How to add more than one link to your Instagram bio
Two ways to do it, and how to decide which one suits what you are linking to.
You have a shop, a booking page, a new video and a newsletter, and one bio. Instagram has an answer for this now, and there is a second approach that does more. Both are below, with what each is good at.
Option one: add several links in Instagram
- Open Instagram and go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links, called Website on older versions of the app.
- Tap Add external link, paste the address, and give it a title.
- Repeat for each one, then tap Done and save.
Your profile shows the first link with a note that there are more, and tapping opens the full list. If your profile still shows the old version, close the app completely and reopen it.
This is quick, it is free, and for two or three destinations that need no explanation it is genuinely all you need.
Option two: one link to a page of your own
The other approach is a single link to a page you control, with everything on it. The difference is what each one can say.
A list can tell somebody what a destination is called. A page can show them what it is: a photograph of the thing, a sentence about why it matters, a price, and a button that says what happens next. When you are asking for a decision rather than a click, that difference is the whole sale.
A page also travels. The same address goes in your TikTok bio, on the end of a video, in your email signature, on a business card and in a message to somebody who asked. Links stored inside Instagram only ever work inside Instagram.
And a page can collect. An email sign-up form on it turns a visitor into somebody you can reach again next week, which no list of links can do.
Which to use
Use Instagram's list when you have two or three links that explain themselves, like your own shop and your own YouTube, and nothing you need to sell or measure.
Use one link to your own page when something on it needs a picture or a sentence to make sense, when you are selling or taking bookings, when you want the same address to work everywhere, or when you want to know what people did after they tapped.
You can also do both: put your page first in the list, and let the rest sit behind it.
Questions
How many links can I add to my Instagram bio?
Instagram allows several, shown as a list when somebody taps through. The exact number has changed over time, so add yours and see where it stops.
Why is only one of my links showing?
That is how the profile displays them. The first one shows with a note that there are more, and the full list opens when somebody taps it.
Do the extra links work on the web version of Instagram?
Generally yes, though the profile is laid out differently there. A link to your own page behaves identically everywhere, which is one reason to keep the important destination behind one address.
